Posted: September 1st, 2001 10:50 PM Recommend Spiral-Y/Shuma/Sentinel-Y Use the Spiral/Sent trap to build up the meter that Shuma needs, then safe tag. Call Spiral-Y and it will hold them in place long enough for you to start AND land the Chaos Dimension, which is where most Shuma players I've met seem to center their game. Shuma's a meter-user. Keep that in mind when building teams. __________________ "Explorers are we, intrepid and bold, Out in the wild, amongst wonders untold. While I may use Strider/Doom my fav. character in MvC2 is Shuma Gorath! And I'm pretty good with it in this game too! So let me help you out a bit! First off you have to under-stand that Shuma Gorath is a Black-hole when it comes to Super Meters. So you're going to want a good battery character to start off for you. Here are some good teams for Shuma: Blackheart/Shuma/Doom Spiral/Shuma/Blackheart Sentinel/Shuma/Capcom Dhalsim/Shuma/Doom Now I'll break them down as follows: Blackheart/Shuma/Doom: A good Blackheart can max out a meter within a matter of seconds. Just follow the basic tactics of SJ > Throw HK Demons > Air Dash > Throw HK Demons (Optional) > repeat. Plus he has an Easy infinite to boot! Also if you manage to connect the HK Demons then you can tag Shuma in with-out the worries of him being hurt. All Shuma really needs is 3 Meters to function "properly" but I personally prefer 5. Now how you use the meter matters. I suggest you dedicate 2 of the meters to chipping and the remaining 3 for the Chaos Dimension (if you think you can connect it.). For chipping I suggest you let Blackheart fill that part of the job by performing the Inferno XX HOTD. However if Shuma is already in then you can chip by doing something like this: Fierce Mystic Stair XX QCF+ 2 Kick. It does pretty good Chip Damage. And even more if you call Doom out. Now when it comes to connect the Chaos Dimension well....It will be hard. But try to keep on top of your opponent and try to force them to block (With the help of either the Doom or Blackheart Assist). They minute they block their as good as caught. That or you can try and combo into the Chaos Dimension but the other way is a bit easier. Once you connect the Chaos Dimension I suggest you hold down and start pressing Roundhouse rapidly. Doing so will result in Shuma hitting your opponent once more when he comes out of the portal at the end of the Chaos Dimension. It's nothing major but it adds one more hit and one extra pixel of damage. Plus if worse comes to worse and Shuma dies you still have a team of Blackheart/Doom and you can then attempt to pull off the Doom/Blackheart trap. Spiral/Shuma/Blackheart: This one is pretty easy. Use Spiral's Wall of Swords along with the Blackheart assist. Try and keep it up until you have the desired amount of meter and you think it's safe to bring Shuma out. Once Shuma is out do like what I mentioned before but replace the Doom AAA with Spiral and her Projectile assist. It may not cover as much of the screen as Doom does but it will have to do. Sentinel/Shuma/Capcom: Use the Sentinel/Capcom lockdown and build up meter. Then once you reach your desired level of meters send Shuma out when you think it's safe. Once out try using Sentinels Ground Assist to help set up the Chaos Dimension. Worse comes to worse you still got Sentinel/Capcom lock-down. Dhalsim/Shuma/Doom: Eh this is just my goof around team. Dhalsim can build meter pretty fast with the bizarre games he plays. Once he you have meter pull Shuma out and leave the work to Shuma/Doom. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just remember that Shuma is meant for casual play only and should never be used in a tourney. Also remember that all of Shuma's assists suck. IMHO his Projectile Assist is his "best" one. When not chipping or doing the Chaos Dimension "set-ups" I suggest you try and land the air combo into kick throw. And that uh...Basically wraps it up. Sorry if these strats suck...I haven't used Shuma seriously in a looooong time.... __________________ SilverGear PSL's Q player. Rock the system one step at a time... IP: Logged All times are GMT.
